Florida Gulf Coast University’s Bower School of Music has signaled its intention to become an All-Steinway School, joining the ranks of Juilliard, Curtis, Yale and 72 other leading Conservatories and Music Schools.

With the assistance of Greg Billings, FGCU has selected new Steinway, Boston, and Essex Pianos to replace instruments they previously had on loan from another supplier. In side by side comparison, under extreme conditions, the Steinway and Boston pianos simply out performed all the other pianos.

Dr. Michael Baron, Professor of Music and Head of the Piano Department at the Bower School of Music, has selected 5 Steinway Grands and 12 Boston and Essex Studio Uprights.  He will select an additional 15 pianos, including an additional Steinway Concert Grand for the Bower School of Music Building, expected to open in the fall of 2010.

Legacy Naming opportunities for the building and for the pianos are available by contacting Judy Cassidy at FGCU.
